Candidate cause (the documents say what to do)

Front right-hand brake pipe contact with body cross sill - recall 00V-345

Clearance between the front right-hand brake pipe and the body cross sill can decrease until they touch.

The brake warning lamp comes on when the fluid level reaches the indicator limit.

How to tell

Brake warning / Service Brake System

What to do

  1. Dealers inspect the front right-hand brake pipe for wear.
  2. A worn section is replaced with a redesigned pipe section; otherwise a spacer clip is installed.

In the records

  • Brake Line: replaced 1
  • Spacer Clip: replaced 1

Passages of the technical documents

  • SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CLEARANCE CONDITION BETWEEN THE FRONT RIGHT-HAND BRAKE PIPE AND THE BODY CROSS SILL THAT COULD DECREASE TO THE POINT OF ALLOWING CONTACT DURING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE.

NHTSA (recall summary text as published by NHTSA)

  • IF CONTACT OCCURS AND THE BRAKE PIPE BECOMES DAMAGED, IN HALF OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM THERE CAN BE A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND PRESSURE.

NHTSA (recall summary text as published by NHTSA)

  • THE BRAKE WARNING LAMP WILL BE ACTIVATED WHEN THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL REACHES THE INDICATOR LIMIT.

NHTSA (recall summary text as published by NHTSA)

  • DURING BRAKING, THE PEDAL WILL BE LOWER THAN NORMAL AND STOPPING DISTANCES WILL BE LONGER.
