Candidate cause (the documents say what to do)
Reduced Engine Power from throttle body connector crimp, broken wire or grounds
A vehicle may come in for a reduced power message and DTCs P0120, P0220, P1516, P2101 or P2135.
The TAC / throttle body codes may be caused by a loose wiring crimp at the throttle body connector or a broken throttle body circuit.

What to do
- Inspect all related throttle body terminals for a loose wiring crimp.
- Wire breaks usually occur within 1 to 4 inches (= 25.4–101.6 mm) of the throttle body connector.
- On C/K trucks, complete SI procedures for voltage drop on grounds G103 and G104; grounds G103 or G104 may be loose or corroded.
- If a terminal crimp or broken wire is found, repair or replace only the circuits involved.
Caution: Installing this pigtail connector may cause other intermittent TAC module / TP codes at a later date.

In the records
- Throttle Body: replaced 1(says it came back: 1)
- Throttle Body Harness: repaired 1(says it held for a while: 1)
- Throttle Body Harness: replaced 1(says it came back: 1)
Work that followed
- Throttle Body (replaced) did not settle it; then Throttle Body Harness (repaired) 1(says it held for a while: 1)record 1
The course as owners' complaints state it. A complaint is filed more often when a repair did not hold, so the counts are not a rate at which work succeeds.
Outside the documents and the records
The five pages read are two on the 2003 Tahoe and three on the 2003 Silverado; none is a record of the Yukon or Yukon XL. All are English Q&A threads, not a shop's records. The two Tahoe threads and the Car Talk thread on the Silverado 1500HD hold only questions and advice, with no repair outcome reported.
- In both 2003 Tahoe threads (2CarPros and Car Talk), a mechanic proposed replacing the throttle body together with a part on the accelerator pedal side (the accelerator pedal position sensor in the 2CarPros thread, the pedal in the Car Talk thread) while the cause had not been confirmed. 2CarProsCar Talk Community
- The owner of the 2003 Tahoe on Car Talk writes that the accelerator pedal sensor has already been replaced, so the owner takes it not to be the cause, and that the mechanics want to replace the throttle body and the pedal for $700. Car Talk Community
- The owner of the 2003 Tahoe (5.3L, P1516) on 2CarPros writes that the shop reproduced the fault with a scan tool and saw no disagreement in the throttle position sensor or TAC readings, that the shop said bypassing ground G103 by grounding at another point showed the ground was not the cause, and that at pickup the owner was told about $175 had gone into it with the fault still not fixed. 2CarPros
- In the 2CarPros thread on a 2003 Silverado 2500HD (6.0L, P1516), another poster with the same symptom (vehicle not stated) writes that two wires were broken 3/4 inch from the throttle body plug and that joining them with two butt connectors fixed it. 2CarPros
- The owner of another 2003 Silverado 2500HD (P1516) on 2CarPros writes that nothing wrong was found in the eight wires and terminals at the throttle body connector, and that after cleaning the throttle bore and clearing the code the fault had not come back as of that post. 2CarPros
The sentences above were written by FaultCrate from what shops' public pages and Q&A sites state as fact (none of the pages' wording is shown; a second reader checked each against its pages). A record of another vehicle says which vehicle. A Q&A thread is a question and advice, and may not say how the repair ended. The links below are places to look; the contents of pages not read were not checked.

A cause or a result a complaint states is the owner’s view or what a dealer told them, not an established fact.
Put together by FaultCrate from public records and technical documents. The cause and the repair are for the workshop to decide with the vehicle in front of it. Counts are records, not failure rates.
