The vehicle (where a record says)

A record is under an engine, a drive or a series only where it says so: the characters of the vehicle identification number filed with a complaint, its text, or what its document says it applies to. A record that does not say is kept as "not stated". The filed numbers and the documents do not tell 4WD from AWD.

Outside the documents and the records

Of the pages read, the only Yukon record is one question-and-advice exchange on a 2004 Yukon, with no repair outcome reported. The shop work records are on a 2004 Escalade and the Hummer H2 (model year not given), not on the Yukon or Yukon XL.

  • The three Japanese shop records read (one on a 2004 Escalade, two on the Hummer H2) all replaced stepper motors. ガレージダイバン(東京・千葉)ガレージダイバン(東京・千葉)スカイオート(埼玉)
  • Three sites describe replacing every stepper motor: Sky Auto replaced all seven on a Hummer H2 whose speedometer and fuel gauge were faulty, Hot Wired, in a Hummer H2 article, recommends replacing them all on the grounds that each will eventually show the same symptom, and a 2CarPros answerer tells the owner of a 2004 Yukon who says the motors need replacing to get a kit and replace all of them. スカイオート(埼玉)HOT WIRED(名古屋)2CarPros
  • Sky Auto writes that on a Hummer H2 whose speedometer and fuel gauge were faulty the motors fitted carried the pre-countermeasure part number, and says such motors can, it seems, also affect the circuit board. Garage Daiban likewise writes that it fitted a countermeasure motor on a Hummer H2. スカイオート(埼玉)ガレージダイバン(東京・千葉)
  • Hot Wired writes that on a Hummer H2 whose motors had already been replaced and whose gauges read normally, a fault inside the meter unit was the cause of a parasitic drain that flattened the battery, and gives 173,800 yen including tax for a new unit with the odometer set. The shop says the Escalade, Yukon, Tahoe and Suburban use the same meter. HOT WIRED(名古屋)
  • On 2CarPros, asked whether the mileage has to be set when swapping the instrument cluster of a 2004 Yukon, an answerer says the cluster verifies the VIN each time the ignition is switched on, and that a mismatch in either the VIN or the mileage will cause trouble. 2CarPros

The sentences above were written by FaultCrate from what shops' public pages and Q&A sites state as fact (none of the pages' wording is shown; a second reader checked each against its pages). A record of another vehicle says which vehicle. A Q&A thread is a question and advice, and may not say how the repair ended. The links below are places to look; the contents of pages not read were not checked.

A cause or a result a complaint states is the owner’s view or what a dealer told them, not an established fact.

The records are of North American vehicles. A vehicle whose lamps or instrument display were changed for Japan may show the fault differently. What the records assume
