Aftermarket part (not the vehicle as built): Federal-Mogul National / Carquest replacement wheel hub assembly retention nut - recall 07E-106

Equipment recall of aftermarket replacement parts: Federal-Mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies (National, Carquest, listed part numbers) shipped January 23, 2006 to December 20, 2007. It has no relation to original equipment. The NHTSA record lists GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2000-2006. Model years come from the NHTSA record's product list held in the database, not from the recall text. The document's application table lists the Yukon and Yukon XL as the 2WD 1500, 2001-2006.

How to tell

What to do

  1. The recalled part numbers are 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059 and 515060.
  2. On 2x4 vehicles, raise the vehicle on an approved hoist first; the hub assembly is good if a yellow, green or blue paint mark is seen on the grease cap on the inboard side of the steering knuckle.
  3. If the paint mark is not present, remove the wheel and the brake rotor and clean rust from the hub assembly face to check for the date code stamping.
  4. If a round yellow sticker is present on the box label, the part is good.
  5. Federal-Mogul notifies customers and replaces the hub assembly free of charge.
  6. The hub assemblies were manufactured for aftermarket use; owners of these parts should have them removed and replaced as soon as possible.

  • The inboard retention nut that maintains the hub bearing assembly can loosen, resulting in an ABS light, noise and/or wheel separation.→ ABS light, noise and/or wheel separation
