1Fault
- This may be accompanied by a Service 4 Wheel Steer message on the DIC and/or a DTC set in the 4 Wheel Steer module.
2Finding the cause
Possible causes
- When a fault is detected during a turn, the Rear Wheel Steering module performs a controlled re-centering of the rear wheels, which may take up to 30 seconds.
- During these 30 seconds the owner may have straightened the front wheels while the rear wheels are still turned (dog tracking).
Steps to confirm (in the document’s order)
- Do not let this normal operation add confusion to the actual concern; perform normal diagnostics for the DTC set.
3Correction
Caution
- An owner may believe the rear wheels are stuck in the turned position when in fact this is normal operation.
