The vehicle (where a record says)

A record is under an engine, a drive or a series only where it says so: the characters of the vehicle identification number filed with a complaint, its text, or what its document says it applies to. A record that does not say is kept as "not stated". The filed numbers and the documents do not tell 4WD from AWD.

Record by record

41 records state a cause or a remedy. Each record is shown as short labels in the order fault → finding the cause → correction. Press a label to narrow to the records that state it.

A ribbon is as wide as the records that state both of its ends (only the commonest are drawn). A record that names several symptoms or components runs through each. Orange is records that say the fault came back or was not fixed. Results come from owners’ reports only; one that does not say is “result not stated”. None of this is a likelihood of a cause or a rate at which work succeeds.

      2. Remove the rear defroster power connector and crimp a new one to the feed wire; the proper connector, P/N 12034110, is in the Packard Electrical Assortment, Tray 18, Position 5.
      3. Prepare the surface of the used defroster tab and the defroster buss bar with fine grain (500 grit) sandpaper or Emery cloth.
      4. Wipe the prepared contact area with Kent Automotive Acrysol (or equivalent) to remove residual oil or dirt.
      5. Heat the new connector on the buss bar surface to be soldered, holding the connector and defroster tab in place with long nose pliers.

      • Heating the glass excessively, or repeatedly without time to cool, may break the glass.
      • A silver-bearing solder must be used; do not attempt the repair with conventional tin/lead alloy solders.

      • Condition 2: paint damage on the liftgate at the lower outboard edges of the center applique.
    2. 2Finding the cause

      Possible causes

      • The applique design might allow deformation or dimpling of its surface if the retaining nuts are overtightened.
      • The applique design together with the forming of the license plate pocket in the liftgate may let the lower outboard edges of the applique contact the liftgate.

      Repair

      1. For 2011 or earlier vehicles, replace the liftgate center applique with the appropriate new service part from the table.
      2. To create clearance, add GM washer P/N 15911310 to the applique between the foam washer and the mounting boss at each of the four mounting stud locations.
